CONNECTICUT PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS

The Tri-field Natural EM Meter and the CellSensor Electro Magnetic sensors
are a couple of favorites that are used by ghost hunters when detecting magnetic
anomalies in the atmosphere. The Tri-Field is extremely sensitive and in many
cases is best left as a stationary detector. However one benefit over
detectors such as the CellSensor model is that it is not as suseptable to picking
up readings from man-made powerlines, appliances etc. The Tri-field does
have a  built in tone you can set to go off at a paticuliar reading and makes
it a great choice in the dark. It's sensitivity does limit it as a hand held unit, but
you can get used to it's fluctuations upon using it over a period of time. The
bottom line is have more then one type of detector with you so you can compare
  one against the other.

The Sony  mini DV camera with the Nightshot feature gives you
the ability to see in the dark through infrared technology. It uses
mini cassettes to record on and gives a pretty decent picture. This
video camera is extremely affordable and for an extra hundred
bucks you can add the infrared adapter which allows you to see
up to 30ft away which will cover most rooms. A larger battery is
available which gives you about an hour and a half of taping time.
Unless the spirits drain it first.

The Canon Powershot is a great digital camera and has a 3' screen
on the back of the camera so it makes it easy to see what you just
photographed and with the proper memory card you can
take hundreds of pictures and download them to your computer. The
old standby 35mm Nikon is another camera to have in the arsenal and
gives you good picture quality as well as negatives which backs up your
evidence. Be sure to have multiple cameras at your disposal and backup
batteries.

Not an essential tool to have for ghost hunting, but if you can afford a
good DVR with a lot of memory it can't be beat. Multiple infrared cameras
allow us to film in the dark and film in a number of different rooms at the same
time. The great part about a DVR is that you can keep all your video and
audio evidence right on the DVR, edit this info and put it on disk for later
 review.

Every ghost hunters dream is to own a thermal imaging camera. The cost on these can run into the thousands of
dollars which prohibits most groups from owning one. It is capable of picking up subtle changes in temperature
and show you the findings of what it's seeing on screen which can be extremely valuble during an investigation.
You can also record your images on disk for later viewing. Flir is the most common type used by ghost hunters
who have them. If you shop around you can find used models which can save you quite a bit of money.

Various types of handheld recorders are used during an investigation. We like the Olympus digital recorders. You can pick
up a pin drop with these and another nice feature is that they come with a docking base that you can plug into your computer
to download your info. We find that when on an investigation we like to leave one in each room where our DVR cameras are
set up to back up any evp evidence we may pick up during the investigation.

We use a number of different flashlights on our investigations. One of our favorites is this cheap little flashlight
you see to the left. We like to use the red lens filters which buffers the light in dark situations and doesn't interfere
as much with the i/r cameras. It also has a belt clip which makes it very convienient.

Motion sensing equipment can be very useful especially when trying to secure a room. Yes there are those out there
who like to decieve ghost hunters by trying to tamper with equipment set up during an investigation. One of the best
ways of trying to stop this from happening is to set up motion alarms in areas where it is difficult to secure otherwise.
There are motion sensors with remote controls which is a nice feature to have. It allows you to turn the alarm off before
going into the area you secured which in turn stops that annoying alarm from going off each time you enter.

There are various types of infrared thermometers out there in all shapes and sizes. It is believed that
many times when a spirit has entered a room the temperature can dramatically drop or elevate depending
on the type of activity going on ghostly or demonic, etc. You have to first eliminate potential drafts from
windows and heating vents then you can start looking into possible paranormal activity. The two types at
the left function the same when when using the i/r function for reading temperatures in a room which gives
you a reading of the various temps going on around you. The blue thermometer has one difference it has a
probe that can read temps locally and you can use the i/r function to read temps at a distance. The probe
works good when you find a localized cold spot where it can be placed into the area to give you a more
accurate reading. The display will show both temps simultaneously.
